Hello!
I am Hongye Sun, a User Experience(UX) designer.
Harnessing the potential of technology and design to bring positive change in people's lives is my passion as an aspiring interaction designer.
As a designer working in the UX space, my ultimate goal is to design digital products that are not only functional and aesthetically pleasing, but also accessible and user-friendly for everyone.
With a strong passion for modern technologies, I strive to bring a human-centered approach to every project I work on, creating designs that are intuitive, innovative, and always with good will towards the user.
Music Making
-
I have embarked on a musical journey all the way back since 2017 initially as a way to ease my depression, it has given my soul great comfort and endless joy over the years as I explored countless different aspects of the music making process.
-
I have been Writing, Composing, Singing/Rapping, Sound Designing, Producing, Mixing and Mastering my music under the artist name of QUANTITY for over 6 years now.
My work is produced with FL Studio DAW and is consisted of mostly House music (Bass House / Electro House / Progressive House / Melodic House, etc.) but I have also touched on genres like Future Bass and even Trap Rap as well.
My account has garnered over 25k playbacks in total ever since I was reached by publishers to began having various record labels release my tracks in China and Argentina since mid 2020, in which I would have never expected since my music has always been largely underground and at times even experimental but it does give me confidence in the quality and the creativity of the work that I do.
-
Every time that I set out to make a track, I push my creative boundary further and explore different techniques and philosophies in sound designing and song writing, and my years of knowledge gathered from this process has unexpectedly fed back into the UX design work that I do since hearing, as one of the 5 senses of us human, has always been a crucial aspect of user experience across products.
Having advanced knowledge of the software and the very unique skillset that comes with it available really empowers me as a designer to think broader and bolder into how I can reach and help more people, such as designing sounds for micro-interactions and brand identity, or for accessibility with sound.
I make music.
My published tracks are available here.
Note: NetEase Cloud Music operates mainly in China and only provides Mandarin Chinese, please use a page translator if you are willing to visit. Some tracks are contract-bound and may not be available worldwide.
Graphic Design
-
As I was publishing to various labels in 2020, I have built very deep connections into the electronic scene in China, and I saw that the electronic music scene there is filled with incredibly passionate and talented artists but they lacked money and resources for basically everything. Many artists and labels struggle to produces promos and even album artworks for the tracks being released.
I knew how time consuming, expensive, and difficult it is for these artists and labels to work on these amazing music alone, and despite having graphic design only as a hobby back then, I wanted to make a change for them.
-
Ever since late 2020, I have been designing album arts, posters, logos for countless electronic music-related brands, events and individual artists. I have also done heavy consulting work for 3 different labels working as the Lead of their Art/Design departments.
Over the past years, I have strived to produce high-quality, completely original artworks created from my own photography work, illustrations and 3D renders. The work that I have done was mostly given out for free or only charged a minimal cost, with the sole wish that those work of mine could reach out and support as many in the industry as possible.
-
The experience of working with brands, labels and individuals laid a very strong foundation for my visual style, design skill and knowledge in visual communication — something that I especially consider as key strengths of mine as a designer in the UX space.
I craft visuals.
Illustrations & 3D Art
-
On my path of creating visual design for music artists in the field, I felt the strong need to create original art in more varied forms to cater to different artists’ needs. To fulfill that purpose, I have begun to explore many different forms of art-making, including illustrating, 3D model making & rendering, calligraphy and more.
-
A wide range of valuable skills of mine was obtained in this process, and many of them translates into my current work in various different forms, including sketching, design narrating, and 3D mock-up rendering.
I draw in 2D and 3D spaces.
Tech Enthusiasm
-
My biggest hobby is to collect the most unique tech gadgets ever created, my collection ranges from sets of swappable smartphone camera lenses, a multitude of differently designed wireless chargers, to semi-conductive smartphone cooler and all kinds of unique smartwatches and other wearable tech. I am always intrigued of how these unique and sometimes crazy tech gadgets can change my daily life so dramatically.
-
Ever since I have first assembled my ITX personal computer, my love and enthusiasm for smart devices and personal computing became never-ending.
I have used the Steam Deck; I have used the first phone with a Google silicon; I have used dual-screened, sliding, transparent, mechanical gaming and foldable smartphones, and my collection is consisted of some of the rarest and the most unique smart devices that the industry has ever seen.
Every time I obtain a new device, I never get them for the sole purpose of them being unique or strange in terms of form factor, what I’m really curious of is how the technologies that are being utilized can change how we users consume content, approach daily usage, and have them ultimately enhance our quality of life. The deep thinking involved in this process became an invaluable experience of mine as I work in the interaction design space.
-
I have been pursuing the cutting-edge of smartphone photography ever since my love for tech emerged. From Sony IMX586 to OmniVision 48C, to Samsung GN1 and now Sony IMX 989 — the 1” sensor that’s the largest in any smartphone, I have used a very wide range of extremely advanced mobile camera sensors/systems and became very familiar with the capabilities as well as the limitations of those amazing hardware.
I work with the technologies at hand creatively in the photo-taking process, and the outcomes became one of the primary sources of my Graphic Design works.
